Today in Hip Hop News, we report the satisfactory news that Cardi B has won her defamation lawsuit over blogger, Tasha K, for $3.8 Million.
On Monday, a federal jury in Georgia awarded Cardi B $1 million for her pain, suffering, and reputational injury, as well as $250,000 for medical expenses.
On Tuesday, the jury ordered Kebe to pay an additional $1 million in punitive damages, as well as another $500,000 to her firm, Kebe Studios LLC.
In addition, Kebe must pay $1,338,753.47 to Cardi B for her own legal expenses in initiating the complaint. According to Cardi B's lawyer, Lisa F. Moore, the total verdict is roughly $4.1 million.
Kebe was accused of distributing fake information about Cardi B online, accusing her of being a drug-addicted prostitute who knowingly slept with men who had STDs.
Cardi's court-ordered STD testing came back negative last month, proving those allegations baseless.
Cardi said that the allegations had driven her to suicide thoughts during the time period in issue. Any punitive damages will be decided at a later hearing, according to the judge.
Cardi's camp has yet to respond, but the rapper shared a vintage photo of a woman who appears to be her late grandmother on Instagram with the caption, “My queen, thank you for hearing my prayers…Only you know those nights that I cried to you feeling hopeless and tired even when it seems like I have the world on my hands.”
