American rapper Da Brat took years to come out about her sexuality, but she couldn't have done it without the help of her girlfriend Judy Dupart. Da Brat recounted how Dupart ended up revealing her on Instagram in an August 2021 interview according to our sources.
Da Brat and Judy Dupart are now Mrs. and Mrs. after less than a year of marriage. The pair married on February 22nd at Horse Mansion in Fairburn, Georgia, according to People magazine.
Per a social media post made by Dupart, “I’m blessed to be able to marry my best friend today. 2.22.22. I’ve never been so cherished and appreciated and look forward to spoiling my bish for the rest of our lives … cus the way she spoils me is indescribable.”
Last month, Da Brat and Judy Dupart shared on Instagram that they are expecting their first child. While they didn't provide too many details, they said in the caption, “We are EXTENDING the family”, alongside three images of the happy couple adoring Dupart's developing tummy.
Since coming out as a lesbian, the So So Def superstar has been shocked by the outpouring of support. She revealed that doing so for a Black woman in Hip Hop is practically “career suicide”.
So, it was pleasant surprise when the couple received the mass of support that they did from their fans and supporters. “It felt like we gave them a little boost to be themselves more and it encouraged them and motivated them — that was the best part of it”.
“So this date, 2/22/22, is a significant event. We just didn’t want to miss it because it comes once in a lifetime. It’s relevant. It’s just real significant to our relationship. It signifies angel numbers, and it also is reminiscent of twin flames.”
The newlyweds shared several photos from their engagement day on Wednesday (February 23). Brat and Dupart arrived in horse-drawn carriages during the ceremony, then went down the aisle together to Luther Vandross' "Here and Now." Brat was accompanied down the aisle by groomsman Jermaine Dupri, with bridesmaid Lisa Ray McCoy.
