Today in Hip Hop News, we receive the never seen coming news that Chris Tucker has stated that he will join the cast of "Last Friday" on one condition.
For years, rumors circulated that a new episode of the Friday film series was in the works. However, there have been a few glitches in the production process.
Key performers from comedic flicks, such as John Witherspoon, who portrayed Ice Cube's father, Tommy Lister Jr., who played his character Debo, and Anthony Johnson, who played Ezel, have died.
Because of their untimely deaths, people are wary of seeing a new film. Many people believed that the film should be preserved as a classic.
Another reason for the film's delay is that Chris Tucker, who portrayed the renowned Smokey, refused to participate in any sequels. The reason for this is since he stated that he did not "want to represent everyone smoking weed."
However, it appears that the 50-year-old actor has changed his mind.
In an episode of Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe's podcast, comedian DC Young Fly revealed some details about the 27-year-old film. Sharpe, a former NFL player, brought up the footage, saying that no one can play Smokey like DC.
The Wild 'N Out star cut the presenter off and said, "I'm ain't supposed to say this, but I'm gonna say it because we're getting old. I don't care. Chris Tucker, out his mouth, told me— literally this year... He said, if I play his son, he'll be in the movie."
While this appears to be hopeful, there is one more hurdle that must be crossed before the film can be released in theaters. Last July, it was rumored that Warner Bros. refused to hand over the film's rights to Ice Cube, claiming he was too preoccupied with other projects.
