Drake's Team Rejects All Rumors Of His Alleged Arrest In Sweden On Marijuana Charges

Written by: Khalif Thompson

Today in Hip Hop News, Drake fans were sent into a frenzy on Thursday night as news of his detention in a Stockholm nightclub started to circulate.

On Thursday night (July 14), "Free Drake" started trending on Twitter in response to rumors that the Toronto superstar had been detained while touring Europe.

As word spread that Drake had been arrested by Swedish police, fans were outraged. Unverified rumors claimed that the rapper and his security were detained by police while traveling in Sweden.

He was reportedly detained in a Stockholm nightclub on marijuana-related charges, according to rumors.

While the rumors persisted, Drizzy's team was able to get various sources to corroborate that he had not been detained.

In the early hours of Friday (July 14), Huffington Post journalist Phillip Lewis tweeted a confirmation that the rumor was untrue.

“FYI: I talked to Swedish police and they told me Drake is not currently in their custody. (That was the only info they would give),” he added.

Among these anxious fans were others who used this rumor to crack jokes which fans on Twitter are known best for doing.

On the other hand, Drake revealed his intentions for the forthcoming October World Weekend Concert earlier this week.

There will be a much-anticipated Young Money Reunion featuring Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne on the upcoming "Road to OVO Fest Tour." Along with the Canadian hitmaker, Chris Brown and Lil Baby will also perform at the event.
