YFN Lucci has been imprisoned in Fulton County Jail since January 2021, when he surrendered for the 2020 shooting that murdered 28-year-old James Adams and injured another. However, as his May 12 trial date approaches, the Atlanta-based rapper is pleading for his release.
According to our sources, YFN Lucci claims he was stabbed by a fellow inmate in February and fears he would die behind bars if he is not released.
According to the court records, there is apparently a price on his head among the prisoners.
YFN Lucci claims he was wounded with a handmade shank while on a video chat, and he's now asking a court for bond, even if it means wearing an ankle monitor and being confined to his house 24 hours a day.
However, given that the 31-year-old artist broke his prior bond restrictions by visiting a strip club and a recording studio, a court may conclude that isn't such a wise idea.
Drew Findling, YFN Lucci's attorney, sought to utilize his popularity to persuade Judge Thomas Cox last June. But Cox was not for the games!
“My client is, your honor, an incredibly successful artist that is very well known nationally and even internationally,” Findling said, to which Cox replied, “The defendant will remain in a no-bond status at this time. Additionally, this court revokes any bonds previously issued in this case.”
According to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, prosecutors are utilizing a YouTube video in which Lucci appears as part of the racketeering case against him and 11 others:
“We think it sends of very strong message to the public that no matter who you are, you have to follow the law and the rules, and you will be evaluated the same.”
