Gunna Set To Be Released From Jail After Pleading Guilty To Racketeering Conspiracy Charge!

Written by: Khalif Thompson

Today in Hip Hop News, in the YSL RICO case, which resulted in the imprisonment of himself, Young Thug, and others, Gunna entered a plea of guilty to a charge of racketeering conspiracy.

According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, Gunna, real name Sergio Kitchens, entered the Alford plea when he stood before the judge on Wednesday. He claimed that maintaining his innocence while admitting culpability was in his best interests.

Gunna received a five-year sentence, of which one was spent behind bars. While the four-year balance is suspended and will result in a special arrangement, involving 500 hours of community service, the one-year balance is commuted to time served.

Gunna issued a statement in which he expressed:

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Although Gunna is able to use the Fifth Amendment, he may be summoned to testify.

The reason Gunna joined YSL in 2016 was to be a part of "a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations," the rapper stated on Wednesday.

"My focus of YSL was entertainment," he said, "rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and "glorified" urban life in the Black community."

Young Thug is still incarcerated.
