Today in Hip Hop News, we travel back to Tuesday night (December 28), at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta which Jack Harlow performed at the concert venue for his loving fans would be a smooth night for his fans to enjoy his music.
According to sources, Harlow caught wind of a video taken just outside the venue on Wednesday night (December 29) which recorded a police officer can be seen physically putting his hands around the neck of a black female fan during an argument that currently the video hasn’t provided context of.
Instead of doing the predictable thing his audience thought he’d do, offering the woman numerous tickets to how many shows she’d like to attend as a way of restitution, the Louisville rapper took to Instagram publicly calling for the firing of the officer.
In the midst, Harlow also addressed the systemic issue that currently exists with the police.
“When I watched it I was disgusted by that cop and all I wanted to do was make something good happen for this girl immediately”. Following the suggestion to give her as many tickets as she’d like he follows up with “But that’s not enough and it's not a solution to a systemic issue that people who don’t look like me have to face”.
Jack, with a background of being a white rapper in a predominantly black genre, is visibly trying to be the example for his fans and how to voice concern and enact change for criminal justice reform.
“You don’t just enjoy Black culture. You stand up next to Black people in a time of need”.
