Today in hip hop news Jacqueline Avant was shot and killed at her home in Beverly Hills. Jacqueline was the wife of Clarence Avant, who has won grammys and mentored many artists.
Early on Wednesday, the police received a phone call around 2 a.m. to the couple’s home, where it was confirmed Jacqueline had passed away.
The motives of the person who shot the 81-year old are still unclear. The only sign of forced entrance was the shattered glass from the sliding glass door in the back of the house.
It is still unknown if the person who broke in was trying to commit a robbery or if they had intentions to kill Jacqueline.
It has not been announced yet if any objects were stolen from the house.
As of today, no one has been arrested yet. Police are still looking for potential suspects.
The couple was married for 54 years, and they both were highly recognized, especially since Clarence is the “Godfather of black music”.
The police chief of Beverly Hills said, "The Avant family's contributions to the world of entertainment and to better communities across Los Angeles are unmatched. There are no words to express our profound sorrow for this immense loss. The motives in this case are still unknown. We will not speculate on anything that's out there, including whether this was a robbery attempt or not."
Many people have sent out prayers to the family in hopes of things getting better.
