In his latest philanthropic efforts, Chicago raised producer, Kanye West, was branded “modern-day Santa Clause”, after donating almost 4,000 toys to children in need in Chicago.
Over the weekend, it was reported that the 44 year old, who legally changed his name to “Ye”, paid for almost all the gifts being handed out at a toy drive in his home city. According to sources, this encouraged other local residents and government members to contribute to the toy drive as well.
Local Alderman Stephanie Coleman made a statement expressing that she was “so proud that Kanye is, once again, responding to our request to help the children of Englewood and beyond. He is no stranger to our community. His presence has always been felt in our neighborhoods”.
In addition, families who’ve attended the event also were given food, and can play games & win prizes while getting their toys.
According to sources, West has been on a philanthropic spree lately after he met with the CEO of LA Mission and other charitable organizations to discuss Los Angeles homeless problem. His goal was to partner with groups in the city to continually supply food to the unhoused, and to use his companies as a means to provide education, jobs, and housing to those in need.
The media is in an uproar, for this touched many hearts and has been seen as the first major initiative taken to tackle issues that America has been grappling with for decades.
