Today in Hip Hop News, we deliver tragic and breaking news. Metro Boomin is dealing with a tragic family tragedy: he lost his mother at the hands of her spouse in a domestic dispute, who then killed himself, according to close sources at TMZ.
The producer, who has worked with Future, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Migos, Travis Scott, Drake, Kanye West, and 21 Savage, among others, learned of his mother's death last weekend when her corpse was discovered by authorities just outside of Atlanta.
According to sources close to the inquiry, Metro Boomin's mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne, appears to have been murdered by her spouse – not Metro's father – who subsequently committed suicide.
This is said to have happened Friday night, although more specifics are sketchy.
Boomin and his three siblings were nurtured in St. Louis by Leslie.
According to reports, she was among the first to recognize her son's musical abilities... and pushed him to follow his love throughout youth and early adulthood.
She'd even drive him from St. Louis to Atlanta so he could work with musicians he was interested in, all in the hopes of launching his career.
She and her kid were extremely close; even after Metro rose to international fame, she was constantly on his mind.
