This week, Netflix shook the internet yet again with the public announcement of their hit television series “Squid Game,” which is returning for a second season with brand new characters.
The next round of the Squid Game has been revealed by Netflix. On Sunday, Netflix announced that the groundbreaking Korean drama had been renewed for a second season.
"It took 12 years to bring the first season of "Squid Game" to life last year," the series' creator said in a statement on the renewal. However, it took only 12 days for "Squid Game" to become the most popular series of all time."
The post also teases some new characters that fans of the program might expect to see.
“The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.”
Last year, Netflix said that the drama had been viewed one-point-65 billion times in its first 28 days, making it the company's most watched series ever in English or non-English.
In an interview with "Vanity Fair" last month, the series' creator said that the second season might not debut until late 2023 or perhaps 2024.
Netflix has yet to confirm or provide an air date.
