Today in Hip Hop News, according to NBC, authorities have arrested and charged a man with the death of Memphis musician Snootie Wild (December 15th).
Additionally, they recognized him as 22-year-old Ivory Duke Williams, but provided no other information regarding the case.
Snootie Wild was discovered in a ditch with a gunshot wound in February, according to ABC13.
He unfortunately died as a result of them while in the hospital.
A lady phoned Houston police at 2 a.m. on February 25th requesting assistance with a stranded car, according to authorities.
Snootie, actual name LePreston Porter, she alleged, pulled a gun on her while others tried to help her.
When gunshots rang out, the woman departed the scene with several other automobiles, unaware of Porter's injuries.
The rapper was then spotted by officials on the scene and sent to the hospital.
Snootie Wild collaborated with Yo Gotti's CMG label and had several songs with Memphis musicians, including "Yayo."
Following his unexpected death, his family published a statement in his honor.
“We are devastated by the untimely passing of our beloved LePreston Porter, known to the world as gold-selling and Billboard charting Hip Hop recording artist Snootie Wild,” they wrote. “He meant the world to us. A son, loving boyfriend, brother to four sisters, a father of seven, and a nephew and cousin to a host of others, he held many roles within our family and was a big kid at heart. LePreston was a beautiful, compassionate and talented soul whose presence was ever felt within our family.
The statement continues, “Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in not only remembering him and his music but also supporting our pursuit for answers and a thorough investigation by the Houston, TX police department that will bring his killers to justice.”
