Today in Hip Hop News, as more facts are unearthed about the groundbreaking assault/altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock, our close sources have recently revealed to us that Will Smith was never asked to leave the Oscars, but rather was asked to stay!
As the week approaches an end, the Oscars brawl between Will Smith and Chris Rock is still making headlines. As everyone continues to share their thoughts on the situation, additional information has emerged concerning Smith being asked to leave the event.
Will Smith was never asked to leave the Oscars after hitting Chris Rock, according to our sources. The show's producers really informed him that he could stay for the duration of the event.
According to the Academy, they requested Smith to leave on Wednesday (March 29), but he refused. According to sources, there was a heated discussion between his representatives and Academy officials backstage, and the decision to let him leave was a difficult one.
They never came to a conclusion on whether or not to remove him.
Will Packer, the Oscars' producer, reportedly informed Smith during one of the commercial breaks, "We do not want you to leave." A little more than thirty minutes after the slap, Packer contacted Smith and told him he could remain. Five minutes later, the King Richard actor received the Best Actor Award.
It's unclear why the Academy issued an original statement that was blatantly false. The Academy said later that day that Smith had gotten hostile in his stance and refused to leave.
