Today in Hip Hop News, we report to you the temporary suspension of American actress, comedian, and television personality Whoopi Goldberg.

Whoopi Goldberg's recent remarks about the Holocaust were met with backlash despite her apology. Following statements she made while on The View, Goldberg became a trending topic across all social media channels.

During the conversation, Goldberg insisted that the tragic genocide was "not about race," despite the fact that the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Maus is about the Holocaust.

"It's about man's inhumanity to man," she said. "That's what it's about." Many took to social media in support of Whoopi, while others stated the suspension was completely necessary.

Goldberg later delivered a long public apology, admitting that her comments were inappropriate and expressing regret. That didn't stop her from being suspended from The View for the time being.

ABC News president Kim Godwin issued a statement explaining that “Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” said. “While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.

“The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”

Goldberg later took to social media via Twitter “On today’s show, I said the Holocaust “is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man… The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver. I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused”.
