Today in Hip Hop News, we announce that yet another reinvention of a famous character played by Will Smith is in the making.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Friday (March 4) that Will Smith and his Westbrook Studios production outfit were working on a sequel to the 2007 post-apocalyptic horror thriller I Am Legend, in addition to revealing Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan as a co-star and producer via his Outlier Society imprint.
I Am Legend follows Will Smith and his dog through the abandoned and disease-ridden streets of New York City in the future as Smith's character strives to discover a cure for a virus that killed off the rest of humanity.
The film is one of Will Smith's highest-grossing films, generating more than $585 million worldwide.
The Oscar-nominated actor and his Westbrook Studios firm are also in the middle of the first season of the dramatic revival of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, which is being distributed by streaming platform Peacock.
The new Bel-Air series, inspired by filmmaker Morgan Cooper's popular 2019 teaser reinventing the '90s comedy as a drama, takes a raw approach to personify Will Smith's complex journey through a contemporary view.
Will Smith's 16-episode original series The Joka premiered on Roku on March 4 as well. The series, which was shot in Las Vegas, includes a cast of 16 comedians, ranging from up-and-coming stand-up talents to well-known stars in the industry.
The Joka trailer is included below.
