Today in Hip Hop News, we report on the tragic passing of LaKevia Jackson, who had a teenage kid with rapper Young Thug, and was shot and killed on Thursday (March 17, 2022) in Atlanta. She was 31 years old.
According to the ongoing preliminary police inquiry, which will be linked down below, the deadly shooting occurred inside the Metro Fun Center and was sparked by an altercation over a bowling ball.
According to our sources, Jackson was at her best friend's birthday party when she got into a fight. According to Jackson's mother, the suspect waited outside for 20 minutes before shooting her daughter in the parking lot.
When police arrived at 10:50 p.m. to investigate a report, they discovered Jackson deceased on the spot.
"This is truly an atrocity," Lt. Ralph Woolfolk, APD Homicide Commander, told CBS 46. "A young lady has lost her life over a bowling ball."
We talk about conflict resolution time and time again, and this is an escalated dispute, so we will work this case through the night and we will find the person responsible. We know who [you are], so go ahead and turn yourself in."
Police think they are close to making an arrest based on surveillance video of the event, ballistic evidence, and witness testimony.
Jeffery Lamar Williams, better known as Young Thug, was a friend of Jackson's before he became famous. While she was in high school, the two shared an apartment complex in Atlanta. Their son is fourteen years old. Young Thug was performing at Billboard's SXSW concert series in Austin on the night of the shooting.
